PLIE IN THE 1ST POSITION

BATTEMENT TENDU

Slide your foot along the floor from the 5th position until fully stretched in an open position (2nd or 4th).
Then slide it back to the original position. The order of 4th (5th) 2nd (5th) 4th is known as En croix.
If your foot remains in the open position it is known as a degage.
The movement can also be started from 1st or 3rd position

FRENCH TERMS USED IN BALLET
